Setoware is a type of Japanese pottery, stoneware, and ceramics produced in and around the city of Seto in Aichi Perfecture, Japan. It is one of the Six Ancient Kilns of Japan. The Japanese term for Seto ware is "setomono", which is also used as a generic term for all pottery, you can see the importance of Setoware to the Japanese pottery culture.

This type of pottery began to be fired in the Momoyama period.
It is an elegant piece of pottery with a yellowish brown glaze called aburaagete as the base, partially coated with a green glaze. When fired by oxidation, the small amount of iron contained in the glaze develops an elegant yellow color.

Jun Tanahashi, who has started his kiln in Seto City, Aichi Prefecture for over 30 years, creates pottery using traditional glazes of Seto ware: Oribe, Ki-Seto, and Ko-Seto. While respecting tradition, he infuses his own unique sensibility into his ceramic work, providing daily enjoyment for everyone.

This sakeware is good for serving both hot and cold sake; its touch of pottery and glaze conveys a warm feeling that are good for sake with nice umami flavor and medium bodied texture.
