Minoware is one of the major ceramics in Japan. It is from Toki City, Gifu Prefecture. It is considered that the history of Mino Ware was started about 1300 years ago.
Born and raised in Mino, a place of tradition, Hideki Hyashi would like to create works that live in the 21st century. He a unique profile of switching his career from an architect to a ceramic artist. His use of architect instinct in his works created unique designs and shown in the sketches on his works. His works was definitely something special that stood out from the rest during my trip to Seto.
A set not only like art; its small sized sakeware (Chyoku) is like a shot glass while the opened rim best delivers the aroma characteristic of the sake.
