Minoware is one of the major ceramics in Japan. It is from Toki City, Gifu Prefecture. It is considered that the history of Mino Ware was started about 1300 years ago.

Nezumi Shino is a unique style of Mino ware (pottery from Gifu Prefecture, Japan) and a subcategory of Shino ware. Its history dates back to the Azuchi-Momoyama period.

The production process of Nezumi Shino involves applying a mixture of iron-rich clay and claystone (known as “oniita”) to the formed pottery, followed by the application of a glaze. The potter then scrapes away parts of the glaze to reveal patterns resembling turtle shell and cypress fence motifs. Nezumi Shino is characterized by its crisp white designs and a glaze with reddish tones. The inscriptions on Nezumi Shino pieces may relate to the landscape and mountain paths.
The patterns on the sakeware is simply mesmerizing

Great for any type of sake and will bring out the umami flavor with its rounded rim. Enjoy the aroma benefted from the large opening as well!
